First: Two Minutes of Calm
Before you spend money, spend two minutes. Try every other door and any accessible (safe) window — more lockouts end this way than people admit. Think about who holds a spare: a partner, a neighbour, a nearby relative. If you rent, your landlord or agent may hold keys and be obliged to help. If none of that lands, call us — and our locked-out guide walks through the wait, including the mistakes that turn a cheap job expensive.
Our Locked-Out Process
Call & Get
a Fixed Price
Keys inside, lost, or a lock that has failed — tell us what has happened and get one fixed price before we start.
With You in
under 60 Minutes
A local locksmith comes straight to you, day or night, all year round.
Back In,
No Damage Done
Non-destructive entry on the vast majority of doors — your lock and door left intact.
Non-Destructive Entry, Explained
The phrase matters because the alternative is a drilled lock and a parts bill. LocksmithLocal's locksmiths open the overwhelming majority of doors in your area with picking and bypass techniques — the lock keeps working, the door is untouched, and your existing keys still fit. Genuine exceptions exist: some failed mechanisms and some high-security cylinders resist everything (that's their job, after all). When that's the case we'll say so, explain the options and price the replacement before touching anything.
Locked Out by a Snapped Key or a Failed Lock?
Plenty of lockouts aren't lost keys at all — the key snapped in the cylinder, or a uPVC mechanism gave up with the door shut. Both are everyday work for us: extraction, repair or replacement happen in the same visit, so one call-out fixes the cause as well as the symptom.
The Locks We Open Every Week
From the everyday to the genuinely stubborn, we get local homeowners back inside:
- Yale night latches that slammed shut behind you on the way out
- Euro cylinders on uPVC and composite doors
- 3 and 5 lever mortice deadlocks on timber doors
- Garage doors, gates and outbuildings
- Anti-snap and high-security cylinders — slower by design, and we'll talk you through the options if yours puts up a proper fight
What Getting Back In Costs
No call-out fee, ever — and a fixed price agreed before work starts, covering labour, parts and VAT. A straightforward non-destructive entry sits at the affordable end of locksmith work; our price guide publishes honest UK ranges so you know what fair looks like before you're standing on the doorstep negotiating in the rain. One warning from inside the trade: be wary of anything advertised online “from £49” — bait pricing is the classic rogue pattern, and the quote has a habit of tripling once your door is open. A genuine local locksmith gives you a fixed price on the phone and sticks to it at the door.
While You Wait — and When We Arrive
Wait somewhere safe and warm if you can. Have ID to hand, or be ready to show it once you're inside: we confirm you're entitled to enter the property before opening it. It takes a moment, and it's a feature — a locksmith who'd open any door for anyone is not the locksmith you want existing in your town.
How long does it take to open the door?
Most standard domestic locks open in minutes once we're with you; stubborn or failed locks take longer, and we'll keep you in the loop as we work.
My keys are lost, not just inside — should I change the locks?
If they were lost with anything that points to your address, yes — and we can swap the cylinders in the same visit. Our guide on when to change your locks covers the judgement call.
Will you need proof it's my home?
Yes — ID or reasonable proof once you're inside. It protects you, your neighbours and us.
