ESG & Sustainability Policy
This policy sets out the environmental, social and governance (ESG) commitments of LocksmithLocal Ltd as a nationwide network of locally based locksmiths.
Last updated: 10 June 2026
Our approach
We believe a network of genuinely local locksmiths is a more responsible way to deliver our service: shorter journeys, accountable people, and a repair-first mindset that makes things last. This policy explains how we try to act responsibly across the environment, our people and communities, and the way we run the business.
Environmental
- Lower travel emissions — because each locksmith serves their own area, journeys to customers are shorter than a distant, dispatched model, which reduces mileage and emissions.
- Repair before replace — wherever it is safe and cost-effective, we repair and service locks and mechanisms rather than replacing them, reducing waste.
- Responsible disposal and recycling — old locks, cylinders and packaging are recycled where possible, and batteries and other materials are disposed of responsibly.
- Less paper — we use digital quotes, invoices and records where we can.
- Durable, standards-based hardware — fitting quality, British Standard and insurance-approved products that last longer and need replacing less often.
Social
- Our people — we treat the people who work with us fairly, pay them properly and support safe working.
- Skills and training — our locksmiths are trained and accredited, supporting skilled local employment.
- Vetting and safeguarding — our locksmiths are vetted and DBS checked, which matters especially when helping vulnerable people who have been locked out or burgled.
- Honest advice — transparent, fixed pricing and no-pressure security surveys, so customers can make informed choices.
- Communities — supporting the safety and security of the communities our locksmiths live and work in.
Governance
- Ethics and compliance — we act lawfully and with integrity, and we do not tolerate bribery or corruption.
- Standards — we work to recognised industry standards, including City & Guilds accreditation, appropriate insurance and British Standard hardware.
- Data protection — we handle personal data responsibly, as set out in our Privacy Policy.
- Human rights — we are committed to preventing modern slavery in our business and supply chains, as set out in our Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking Policy.
- Accountability — named, accountable locksmiths stand behind the work they do.
Continuous improvement
ESG is a journey rather than a fixed destination. We review this policy and our practices regularly and look for practical ways to reduce our impact and increase the good we do.
