Genuinely Free, No Hard Sell
A LocksmithLocal security survey is exactly what it says: free, with no obligation and no hard sell. We walk your property with you, give you an honest assessment of where it stands, and leave you with clear recommendations in plain English. If you want us to do the work, great — but you're equally free to take the list to any locksmith, or to do nothing at all because everything's already sound.
When It's Worth Booking
Most people book a survey at one of these moments:
- You've just moved in and don't know who holds keys
- There's been a break-in, or an attempt, nearby
- You've lived here years and have never had the locks checked
- You're a landlord responsible for tenants' safety
- Your insurer has asked what locks you have fitted
- Something just doesn't feel as secure as it should
How the Survey Works

A Vetted Locksmith Arrives
A named, DBS-checked local locksmith turns up with photo ID, not an anonymous stranger.

We Survey Every Entry Point
Every door and accessible window is checked the way a burglar would — and it all goes on the report.

We Talk You Through It
Findings explained in plain English, what's good, what's weak, and the options if you want to act.
What We Check
A typical survey takes around 45 minutes to an hour and covers:
- Front and back doors, locks, condition and strength
- All accessible windows and their locks
- Lock standards against BS3621 and your insurer's requirements
- Cylinder snap risk on uPVC and composite doors
- Door and frame strength against forced entry
- Patio and French doors, often a weak point
- Visibility and easy targets, how your home looks to a burglar
- Garages and outbuildings
Insurance: The Bit People Miss
Here's the one that catches people out: an insurer can refuse to pay a burglary claim if the property wasn't secured to the standard your policy requires, a door left on the latch rather than deadlocked, or a lock that doesn't meet BS3621. The survey checks exactly this, so you find out on a quiet afternoon rather than at the worst possible moment.
A Calm Place to Start
If you'd rather get a feel for things yourself first, our 10-minute home security check is a good start, our guide to safeguarding your home covers the fixes a survey typically recommends, and how burglars actually break in explains what the survey is really looking for. When you're ready for an expert pair of eyes, the survey is one phone call away.
